Kashmir group tours
Group tours usually base in Srinagar, with day trips or nights in Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonamarg. Summer brings meadows and treks; winter brings snow and Gulmarg's ski slopes, with some roads and passes closed.
Planning a Kashmir group trip
- Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonamarg are roughly 1½–3 hours by road from Srinagar, so many groups stay in Srinagar and take day trips.
- Gulmarg is the winter ski centre: ski trips should name certified instructors and include fitted gear and helmets.
- Snow closes some high roads in winter, including the route beyond Sonamarg over Zoji La.
- Spring and early summer bring meadows and pony treks; autumn turns the chinar trees red.
Places these tours usually cover
- Dal Lake — best Apr – Oct
- Gulmarg — best Dec – Mar (snow), May – Jun (meadows)
- Pahalgam — best Apr – Oct
- Sonamarg — best May – SepHeavy snow can limit access in winter.

What we check before listing a Kashmir operator
- Legal name, address and GSTIN, checked on the GST portal
- Tourism registration: the state registration below, and Ministry of Tourism approval where they hold it
- Public liability insurance covering the trips they sell
- A tested emergency number during trips, and a named person responsible
- Written cancellation and refund terms, price basis, inclusions and exclusions
- Recent group departures on this route, with evidence
- Review pages we can link to (Google Business Profile, Tripadvisor) — we never copy ratings or reviews
- A signed agreement on how enquiries are answered, how travellers' details may be used, and any fees
- Registered under the Jammu and Kashmir Registration of Tourist Trade Act, 1978
- For ski trips: names its instructors' certifications, how many learners each teaches, and includes or fits ski gear and helmets
- Follows avalanche and weather advisories, and plans for road, pass and gondola closures
- Says whether its insurance covers skiing and adventure activities, or advises travellers to buy cover that does
The government's Indian Institute of Skiing and Mountaineering in Gulmarg also runs ski courses when the Ministry of Tourism schedules them.
How tours are listed and ordered
We list a tour only after checking the operator (registration, insurance, emergency support, written terms) and the package itself. Within the list, you choose the order:
- Best match — how many of your filters a tour meets (dates, budget, length, style, departure city), with the reasons shown on each card.
- Departure date, total price or trip length.
Tours with something you can request now always come before those without. A departure counts as open only while the operator has seats and confirmed them in the last 14 days. We don't declare any operator "the best": until there's enough verified traveller feedback, listings are neutral. Sponsored tours, if any, are labelled and shown separately; payment never changes the order. More about how this works.
