  • Rohtang Pass needs a vehicle permit; the Atal Tunnel keeps Lahaul reachable for much of the year.
  • Manali and Dharamshala are about 7 hours apart by road; circuits often add Kasol, Bir or Kullu on the way.
  • Snow reaches Solang and the high roads in winter, and heavy falls can close them.
  • Paragliding at Bir Billing and rafting near Kullu should be with registered operators and certified pilots or guides.
