Questions
What is the eligibility for a Basic Mountaineering Course? No earlier course is needed. Upcoming BMC batches accept ages 16 to 55 (each batch has its own limit), and institutes test fitness on arrival — NIM with a 10 km walk carrying 15 kg, HMI with about 15 km carrying 15–18 kg. HMI also requires Hindi or English.
How long is a mountaineering course? Upcoming Basic Mountaineering Courses last 24–28 days; Advance courses about 28 days.
How much does BMC cost? Published BMC fees for Indian nationals range from ₹20,400 to ₹30,015. NIM adds compulsory insurance (₹850 or ₹1,200); NIMAS requires your own adventure insurance.
What do you need for the Advance course? An 'A' grade in a Basic Mountaineering Course from a recognised institute. Search & Rescue and Method of Instruction need an 'A' grade in the Advance course.
Check your eligibility with the course finder , see dates in the calendar , or browse all government adventure courses .
TravelTycoons isn't connected to any of these institutes and doesn't take applications or payments. Facts are copied from each institute's own website on the dates shown and can change — the institute's official page, and its decision on your application, always come first. Not all adventure training in India is government-run: many private schools and operators run courses too; this directory covers only government institutes we could verify.
